Nexus Metal Detectors Frequently Asked Questions
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT METAL DETECTING AND METAL DETECTORS
Is Nexus the deepest metal detector and how deep can it find buried or lost targets?
The depth at which the Nexus metal detector will detect various in shape, size and weight targets will depend on different conditions as it is with all other metal detectors. Factors to consider is the size of the target, small targets such as tiny gold nuggets and single hammered silver coins will not be detected at the same depth as for example a large hoard of coins. The condition of the soil also plays a role, is it highly mineralized or normal?
Which detector is the best for highly mineralised soil or hot ground?
The most difficult conditions for any metal detector is considered the black sand beaches in the USA. To our knowledge Nexus metal detectors are onlyexisting metal detectors capable to work on the black sand, which will suggest that they will work in almost any severe mineralised conditions around the world.
The Nexus Standard MP was specially developed to excel in all ground conditions and especially highly mineralized soil. It has the ability to work stable and search the very deep earth layers regardless of the soil condition.
Why does the Standard MP not need high frequency search coils when searching for and isolating small targets?
The Standard MP has a two times higher tranmitter, this feature eliminates the need for high frequency search coils.
Which search coil size should I choose?
Small search coils are ideal for small targets, single hammered silver coins, small gold nuggets ect. When searching for medium size hoards, the 13 inchDD performs well and also the larger search coils. If you are searching for very large and deep targets, such as roman graves, the larger searchc coils will be ideas to reach all the way down.
Can different coil sizes and frequency settings be made?
Search coils with various sizes and frequency settings other than the mentioned in the products pages can be made only by customers order and at additional cost subject to separate agreement.
What kind of targets can the Nexus metal detectors find?
The Nexus metal detectors are fully capable to find targets of any size and composition. Nexus can detect any size coins at depth greater than any otherknown detector has achieved so far.
Does the Nexus work well on the beach?
Beach combing is recommended for Nexus MP V2. Yes, this vlf induction balance metal detector can detect any metal target on the beach and discriminate the salt water.. The beach settings are explained in the online User Manual.
Is there a metal detector from the Nexus range suitable for hunting gold nuggets?
All Nexus detectors are suitable for hunting gold nuggets and perform well on the gold fields including tough ground conditions such as those you find inthe Australian gold fields.
What about rechargeable batteries and rechargers?
Our models come with a battery compartment which is suitable to house both single cell batteries or a battery pack.
Will my detector be set up to use any of the accessory search coils at any frequency?
Your metal detector model will be set to use any of the accessory search coils at any frequency for that specific model.
Are the search coils interchangeable between different models?
No, each the search coils are suitable only to work with the metal detectors in that specific range, fitting a search coil for a different model on to your detector will both not work and cause permanent damage to the unit.
Can Nexus metal detectors work in contaminated areas?
Yes, you will be able to work efficiently on contaminated ground by adjusting the detector settings.
Which search coil frequency should I choose for my Nexus metal detector?
The search coils section of each metal detector model has a detailed explanation of what each coil tuned at a certain frequency would be recommended for.
What is the difference between induction balance and pulse induction metal detectors?
Our Science page has a comprehensive article explaining in detail the advantages of induction balance technology to pulse induction metal detectors.
Can my Nexus metal detector work in wet conditions?
The search coils of all Nexus metal detectors are environmentally sealed and can be used on wet sand or ground, the control box and battery box should beprotected.
What are the benefits of the Nexus carbon fibre aftermarket search coils for pulse induction?
We have made several improvements and significant development for the aftermarket search coils for Minelab gold detectors. They are made of light-weight carbon fibre material, which enables the user to work for longer hours. This material is also durable and UV resistant.
We have invented a dual cable system which enhances efficiency. The switch box switches the pulse induction gold search coil from Hot Ground Mode to Maximum Depth mode, this means that you have two search coils in one, a concentric and Mono.
Which gold search coil is better? Mono or concentric?
Our concentric search coil provides more depth and the ability to work near powerlines. It easily handles hot ground and highly mineralised soil. It is ideal
for use with Minelab detectors and for gold nugget huting in the Australian gold fields.
What is the advantages of carbon fibre loops and aftermarket search coils for Minelab metal detectors?
The carbon fibre loops and Minelab aftermarket search coils have many advantages, a significant one is that they are considerably lighter than ABS. This
allows the gold prospecting or treasure hunting to be easier, as the user is able to detect for a longer time, due to less weight, which means less fatigue. A
higher success ratio can be achieved this way.
Search coils in larger sizes are also possible and larger loops reach deeper into the earth’s layers. The other advantage is durability, the search coil is UV resistant.
Can I buy Minelab gold detectors and accessory search coils?
Nexus is an official authorized dealer for Minelab gold detectors, accessory search coils as well as other accessories are available in a seperate shop section and can be purchased directly from us.
You can aso check for a combination deal with our Minelab aftermarket search coils. We currently have options for the GP, SD, GPX-4500 and GPX-5000 and may do further development on other models in the future.
What frequency does the detector work on?
The detector does not work on a frequency, the frequency is determined by the search coil.
